Guiding the Ottawa

Darren has been fishing on the Mattawa and Ottawa Rivers and has lived in Mattawa all of his life. He and his brother have fished professionally for the past 15 years in the North Eastern Ontario Bass Tournaments (NEOBA), the Temiskaming Small Mouth Bass Association, the Top 50 Pike Series, and many local and area tournaments. Together they have placed in the top three in many of the tournaments that are fished in Northern Ontario. They were taught how to fish by their father and he was taught by his father, Niche Belanger, a guide and white water expert around the area and is mostly known for his guiding on Lake Temagami at Kewadin Camp. Darren and his brother have been involved in the Walleye Stocking Association in all aspects of running the fish hatchery from catching the fish, making the fry, to releasing them for the past 20 years. They both strongly believe in catch and release and that a picture is worth more than a thousand words.
